- SYMPTOMS. Signs include repeated urge for bowel movement, rectal discomfort,
- painful diarrhea and pus, blood and mucus in stools.
- CAUSES are most commonly by intestinal disorders of regional enteritis and
- ulcerative colitis and may also involve infection, injury or some drugs. It
- is an inflammation of the mucous membrane lining in the rectum.
- TREATMENT. Underlying cause must be treated. Medication may be prescribed.
